Since 1999 I have specialised in helping people to optimise their health. I appreciate that there are lots of people out there who will claim to have the answer to your health condition. The reason that this information is different is simply because what I'm covering here isn't just a theory, but a road tested, common sense system that works time after time.

Over the years of providing therapy and health coaching to my clients, I noticed that there were a group of people, who, no matter what they tried, remained stuck within their health condition. It was obvious that this group needed a more thorough approach.

The stress response plays a major part in these conditions

You have probably already realised that there is a connection between your stress levels and the amount of symptoms that you are experiencing at any given time. Lots of my clients have said that they can literally feel that "adrenalin feeling" - but don't know how to turn it off. All of the latest ME/CFS research confirms a sustained stress response is common among sufferers.

This chronic level of stress impacts on all bodily systems - the body has become almost stuck in the fight-or-flight response. All M.E., Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia symptoms are due to the disruption caused by the stress response. This means It's pointless focusing on individual symptoms, instead we need to address the underlying cause.

I have found that the best approach to reducing the stress response is through combining a number of techniques and using them together in a structured way. You are then able to collapse the destructive cycle of M.E., Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia and encourage the system into a healthy balanced state.

I was unable to walk further than 100yds without symptoms kicking in and I had had the problem for 8-10 years. My GP referred me to a doctor in Wales who specialises in patients with ME. Following a battery of tests I was diagnosed with mitochondrial failure....

Lets take a look at the structure of the programme

Firstly, you'll receive illustrated instructions for some symptom-reducing techniques. These are simple, non strenuous physical practices that you will use in the weeks before the three day training. These techniques are designed to reduce the stress response. This gives you an opportunity to start the process of recovery. By reducing your symptoms and increasing your available energy, you will be preparing yourself in the best possible way for the training course ahead.

You will then come along to The Lightning Process training. This is delivered to small informal groups over three days, with 4 hours of training per day. There is always a relaxed, friendly and supportive atmosphere within the group. Throughout the course you will be learning and implementing techniques that encourage the body's own healing ability.

You will leave the course with a number of practical tools and techniques that you can use to balance your system. Everything that you learn will form the road map that you need to follow, in order to get yourself well. In the weeks after the training, we will meet for one-to-one telephone coaching sessions. This gives you an opportunity to continue using the techniques, whilst receiving further coaching and support during the final stages of your recovery.

I had been suffering from ME for 12 years. I was reduced to a person only able to rest, sleep, eat, and more sleep. I suffered from fatigue, brain fog, constant fevers with sore throat, chronic pain in muscles and limbs, head aches and so on...

You can activate your own healing mechanism by making changes in certain key areas

Neurology - patterns of thinking

Sufferers of M.E., Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia can easily become trapped in a number of damaging unconscious responses. These patterns of thinking and behaviour consistently trigger the stress response, holding the system in a state of protection (fight-or-flight). These damaging patterns tend to form over time and therefore will not be at all obvious to the sufferer.

I'm not suggesting that these conditions are "all in the mind" - they're not, they are very physical conditions affecting most bodily systems. The point is, purely physical approaches to recovery have a poor and slow outcome. However, although the patterns that we address in the Lightning Process will not have been the original cause - they certainly appear to play a major role in maintaining the the condition. This is yet another example of how the mind and body influence each other.

The Lightning Process is a three day training where we uncover these patterns and then learn effective techniques to change them. Your brain has the ability to adapt and change according to experience, this is known as neural-plasticity. During the Lightning Process training you will learn to harness the mind/body connection. By consistently using the simple techniques that you have learnt, you will then be able to reestablish balance in affected bodily systems.

Respiration - Breathing

Many people suffering from a health condition develop poor breathing patterns. In fact, lots of people who aren't ill have poor breathing patterns too. These poor patterns of breathing might start as a symptom during illness, but soon become a contributory cause. As well as oxygenating our systems, the lungs massage the internal organs and drive the lymphatics - the waste disposal system of the body.

I teach all of my clients some simple but highly effective breathing techniques. Our breathing patterns directly influence nervous system activity and immune system function. As the nervous system and the immune system are adversely affected in M.E. and Chronic Fatigue, it seems logical to use techniques that have the opposite affect. I also teach specific breathing techniques to relax the mind/body and encourage quality sleep.

The Energy System

You may have already found some relief from energy techniques like acupuncture. The problem is, the benefits are often temporary and it's just not practical to receive regular daily treatments - not to mention the cost along with all those needles! The good news is, you can learn to stimulate the same energy system that is used in acupuncture. But, instead of needles, the fingers are used for a gentle tapping technique. These techniques can be used regularly during the recovery process to balance the system and encourage healing.

Stimulating these stress-relief points on the head and body causes positive changes in energy, body chemistry and blood flow. The results of these Meridian Tapping techniques can be felt instantly. Health practitioners the world over are adopting these techniques, due to their ease of use and effectiveness with a whole range of health conditions. I've had so many positive results using these techniques, that I include them as a standard part of the programme.

The key to the programme's success is in the structure

You might have heard of these techniques or even tried some of them before. The reason this approach is so successful is that all of the elements are effective in their own right. But when we combine them and use them in a structured way we are able to influence a number of body systems. The process of change then becomes easier to achieve and more stable than just about any other approach I've come accross.

I'd had M.E. for eight and a half years, starting after a series of vicious viral attacks. My life crashed dramatically and I began the route, common to so many of us, of searching for a cure or at least some relief. I seemed always anxious and was easily overwhelmed by previously routine tasks, or situations.

Why choose me as your health coach and therapist?

I know some people like to hear about qualifications - so for those who do, here they are. I am a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Meridian Therapist, NLP practitioner and coach. I am one of only 20 Advanced Lightning Process Practitioners. As well as these regular qualifications I also bring to my work influences from my personal study and practice of Tai chi, Yoga, healing and meditation over the past ten years.

All of the techniques that I teach are designed to bring the mind and body into balance. ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia are physical conditions - how can a training programme help?

 

Your thoughts literally drive your chemistry. Your chemistry influences all your bodily systems. Natural healing mechanisms can become supressed. When you learn effective techniques for changing your thoughts, and do this consistently, you then have a powerful influence over your health and well-being.

 

Why include the breathing practices and the acupressure tapping techniques?

 

Both of these techniques have the opposite effect on the system to the stress response. I encourage everyone to use these techniques a number of times a day during recovery. With just a few minutes of effort, the positive results can be felt immediately. This is an efficient way to start to retrain the nervous system.

 

Three days of training sounds like a challenge - will I be able to cope?

 

The course runs for four hours per day. We take regular breaks and move through the training at a pace that is comfortable for everyone. There's plenty of time for question and answer sessions and I make sure everyone is up to speed before moving forward.

 

The thought of being in a group feels challenging to me - is that the only option?

 

Small groups are really the best way to learn. The atmosphere is always very supportive within the group and friendships are often formed along the way. We can also learn a great deal from observing others - there are surprising consistencies in the patterns we develop.

 

I have brain fog, what if I can't take this information in?

 

Lots of people who take part in the programme suffer from brain fog too. The course consists of lots of techniques for reducing symptoms and that includes brain fog. All of the main points that are covered in the course are repeated in the notes that you receive.

 

I have personal issues that I wouldn't discuss in the group - what do I do?

 

You will only need to discuss areas that you feel comfortable with during the course. I'm not in the business of making you uncomfortable - that would defeat the object. There will be plenty of time before and after the training for one-to-one sessions where we can discuss any personal issues that arise.

 

I've tried other approaches with limited success - will the results last?

 

The advantage of this combined approach is that you will learn a number of effective techniques to support your recovery. I find that as long as you continue to practice with all of the techniques, not only do the results last, but they improve over time as you gain more and more mastery over the way you run your system.
